about

Jessica Jarvis is a Los Angeles based composer for film and TV best known for her hybrid scoring style, blending elements of dark and light as well as her own vocal textures to create emotionally compelling and imaginative compositions.

She has contributed additional music to a number of movies and TV shows such as the Emmy award-winning 20th Century Studios movie Quiz Lady, starring Awkwafina, Sandra Oh, and Will Ferrell, Nickelodeon's A Really Haunted Loud House, The Emmy-nominated documentary Hold Your Fire, and Peacock TV's series Joe vs. Carole. Her music can also be heard on the trailer for the A24 film After Yang as well as numerous National Geographic/Disney+ series such as Magic of Disney's Animal Kingdom, Life Below Zero, When Sharks Attack, Europe From Above, and more.

More recently, she scored the third season of the Wondery+ podcast As She Rises, and co-scored Mermaid's Lament, written and directed by G.B. Hajim, which had its world debut last summer at the famous TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. She also just completed the score for the upcoming feature film The Long Game, starring Kathleen Turner, Jackie Earle Haley and Sekai Abeni, which premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in February.

In 2019, she was chosen alongside a handful of composers to participate in the SESAC SCORES film scoring workshop under the direction of Emmy award winning composer, Christophe Beck (Frozen, Frozen 2, Ant-Man).

Jessica grew up in New York, where her musical exposure consisted of Top 40’s hits, the national anthem, and the occasional Josh Groban. Other than mastering Chopsticks on her grandparent’s piano and a short, but bountiful career playing the recorder, she didn’t enter the world of music until high school, when she started learning piano by ear.

At the age of 17, she began studying with Kathleen Theisen, a pianist, singer, and composer, who took her musicianship to the next level. After five months of lessons, Jessica was accepted to Berklee College of Music, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Music in Film Scoring, served as president of the Boston based organization, Women's Film Initiative, and was a recipient of the prestigious Alan Silvestri Film Scoring Scholarship Award.
